The ‘WEB AUTHORS’, a group of
year 7 (12 year olds) students from Winifred Holtby Technology College all
met up at approximately 8:45 on Wednesday April 11th, with their teacher,
Mr Holland. We were all very excited. We arrived at the Brough site at
9:30 and were given our identification badges. We were taken to the
Blackburn room and given name badges so the people could identify us more
easily. Tony Arksey then welcomed us to BAE SYSTEMS and we watched a
heritage video. Neil Milne and Peter Boid then gave us a presentation on
the Blackburn Monoplane. We had a coffee break were we had cans of coca cola and biscuits. We gave a Powerpoint
presentation telling the people at Brough about our work, which went very well. We then went down to the part of
the factory where the replica is being built and we met the rest of
the Blackburn Monoplane team. We had lunch in the Wolds restaurant
which was superb. After lunch we had a presentation on Health and Safety
and were given a pair of goggles and a pair of ear protectors. We were
split up, a group of us stayed and helped make the wing, others went to
the Heritage Center, whilst others did research on the BAE Intranet after
a while we swapped over and others helped make part of the
monoplane. We think everybody involved had a great day. |
