Problems at School

Starting a new school

When you move from your primary school, you move from a safe and secure ‘comfort zone’, which you feel you own. Good relationships with teachers and friends are important. Your teacher at primary school knows you and respects you as an individual. Your new school will be big. It may seem noisy and threatening; perhaps you don’t understand what’s going on around you. The things that made you feel safe have been taken away from you.

How can you make this better?

You need to create a new ‘comfort zone’ by making friends with pupils, getting to know teachers and learning how to find your way around.

Make the place your own!

Things will soon get better and remember that everyone else will be feeling the same way.
