Imperial War Museum

Duxford

The Imperial War Museum is situated at an ex RAF base called Duxford. This is just outside Cambridge.

The museum is packed with all kinds of exciting aircraft, ranging from WWI biplanes to Concorde and modern jet fighters. The children from the EAZ Summer School had a fantastic day looking through the history of aviation as well as flying on a 1930's airliner. A massive contrast to the VC 10 and Concorde the children also boarded.

Above is a picture of two early biplanes.

Left is a picture of a Brough built Buccaneer.

Below is a picture of a Dragon Rapide.

To the right is a picture of a Dragon Rapide aeroplane it was the aeroplane that we flew on we were on the aeroplane for 15 minutes. It was noisey and a bit bouncy but it was a very good flight. At first I was nervous about flying in the Dragon Rapide and when I stepped on the wing to get into the plane I felt like turning straight around and not go on it but I didn't and I'm glad I didn't. After I was 1,000 feet off the ground I was okay and I wasn't nervous any more. After we got off the aeroplane our group wanted to go on the plane more and more because it was that good.
