| In the summer of 1999 the newly formed Bransholme and District Area Action Zone ran a pilot summer school for Gifted and Talented year 6 children from within the zone primary schools. The theme for this summer school was 'Hull 700, where next?' |

The 30 young people undertaking the 10 day summer school looked at the issues of regeneration within the city and focused upon 'The Deep', the millennium project for the city and the upcoming new super stadium. |

| The EAZ and EMIH Ltd, the company responsible
for 'The Deep', worked very closely, both at the planning and delivery
stages of the Gifted and Talented summer school and a decision was made to
develop a project based at Winifred Holtby during the following few
months.
The resulting project became 'The Rotterdam Experience'
