The Findings

We looked at three major issues on our visit which we thought were of interest to people visiting tourist attractions in cities in other countries.
The Journey.
The information.
The Attraction.

Our findings might help us understand the need for people to work together to help make Hull a really attractive place for people to visit.

The Journey

We really enjoyed the journey across the North Sea on the P&O ferries. We were able to have fun on the ferries and travel in comfort. When you sleep for most of the journey you do not feel as though you waste time travelling.

Waiting in the terminals can bit a bit boring as there isn't much to do, but the trip into the city centre was easy on the buses. Nicer buses would help to improve the journey.

If this was a holiday the journey would be a pleasant part of it. We are looking forward to the new super ferries coming into service as this will be even better.

The Information

There was very little really eye catching information in the terminals or on the ferries letting people know what was in either Rotterdam or Hull. We think that the attractions of these cities should be advertised and more information given to people on the journey. Why should people stop in Hull on their way to York? We wanted to see posters for the Street Life Museum, Wilberforce House and in the future, The Deep. If we hadn't already known what we wanted to see in Rotterdam there was nothing to persuade us to stay. This was also true of the journey back. There was nothing to persuade people to stay in Hull.

The Attraction

We enjoyed the museum because the story was interesting and similar to our own city's maritime past. The museum was on the dock side and had many outside exhibits which brought it to life. The displays were often in English which helped us to understand them better. We also liked the specific area for children which was a fun way to learn.

Some of the museum was a little bit old fashioned and the shop was not very good. It did not sell the kinds of things children would want to buy.
