Home Up Governors Standards Critical Friends The Media Transition Contacts Key Factors

Many people have contributed to the success of Kingswood High School over the past three years. The innovations and roles played by different people and groups of people are covered in the various sections of this site.

There are however some key factors, which need to be in place if progress within a secondary school is to be made. Not all of the innovations and structures within this site are directly transferable but we believe the key factors influencing success are.

If major initiatives are to be successful within the secondary school we feel it is essential that:

There is real ownership of the initiative within the school, not just with the headteacher.
The initiative is driven from within the school and supported by the EAZ.
There is someone within the senior staff of the school responsible for the successful implementation of the initiative.
There are people at all levels of the organisations involved in developing and implementing the programmes.
The initiatives are well researched and planned with built in timescales, success criteria, finances and other resources identified.
Partnership working with the LEA, EAZ, DfES, schools, the media and business needs to be developed.
The EAZ can be instrumental in developing new initiatives, challenge or introducing ideas from outside of the local area.
Accountability must be built in at all levels.
