A number of
initiatives have been developed in order to raise standards within the
school. Some are directly related to Teaching and Learning, whilst
others are structural or organisational.
In 1999 the school identified Literacy as a real cause for concern and worked with the EAZ to developed what became the Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP). A programme to develop teaching and learning styles began to develop from this and has been recognised as the way forward for the school by HMI. Other initiatives involved programmes to identify the specific needs of pupils and set targets and programmes of work accordingly. Initially this was undertaken in years 10 and 11 to enhance the opportunities for youngsters taking their GCSE exams. |
