Construction Day When everybody arrived at Winifred Holtby we were told that we had produced excellent cars and none of the year nines in Hull combined could produce cars as good as ours. Firstly we designed two colour schemes for our cars, it was quite easy as we all already knew what colours we wanted. Our main colours are yellow, black and red, our B car is going to be light blue and navy blue. Next we sanded down our cars which had been newly made over the weekend for us. After they were sanded down they were very smooth. |

| When we were ready we
started to drill holes for the wheels which Rebecca, Lee,
Kayleigh (me) and Michael helped with, while Nichola and
Stefan screwed in the hooks. These were there to put the
nylon thread through which the car follows when racing
along on the track. Next we experimented with the shades of colours and decided which colours the majority of the group liked the best. |

After deciding on the colours we went to test our car in the wind tunnel. We were testing the drag on our cars. One of our cars had a drag factor of 15 which was the lowest drag that had been seen so far. Our other car had a drag factor of 17 after we sanded the back down and made it more aerodynamic. |
| When the track was free we practised our reaction times to determine who would be the team drivers. | ![]() |
| Each person had six goes each, then the reaction times were added together then divided by six to find out their average. The fastest two people were Stefan and Nichola. Stefan had the fastest reaction time of 0.020 seconds so he became the A driver and Nichola became the B driver. | ![]() |
| Next we tested our cars to see if they went fast and also to see which was the fastest of the two. The one with the lowest back and lowest drag turned out to be the a car which went about 1.2 seconds faster. We painted this in yellow, red and black to match our sponsors colours. |
