The trip to Donington.

We met behind Sutton Park Primary School (Nidderdale) at around 7:15am. The coach arrived at around 7:25am and everyone took their seats. We departed from Nidderdale at 7:30am and we were soon on our way to Donington racetrack. At around 9:00am we stopped at a service station and stocked up on sweets, chocolate and drink.

When we arrived we took a look in the gift shop and some of us bought things but the objects in the shop were very expensive. After the gift shop we went into the restaurant and received a free drink each from the people who worked there. We then took a walk down to the racetrack and watched all the cars zoom by.

The second race that we saw was superb, four cars came rushing round the corner but two got too close and one car ended up on top of the other car.

After all the excitement we finally settled down to have lunch at the picnic tables outside the museum. Whilst eating, a woman came out and gave us all a free ice-lolly (even the teachers got one). Lunch was over at around 1:15pm and we all took our bags on the bus and waited outside the museum doors until everyone was finished. We wandered around the museum picking which cars we liked best.

As the years have gone by you can tell how the shape of the cars have changed and how the colour of the cars depended on what company was their main sponsor.

There were lots more races ranging from MG Midgets to big V8 engined cars. There was even a race for 14 to 17 year olds. Wow!
