ICT for Learning Support Assistants in Schools - cascade University of Hull
Six modules, each of 20 hours tuition, relating to the specific roles and responsibilities of non-teaching staff.

The course is designed to help staff use ICT more effectively in their work and understand better the role of ICT in the curriculum.
Cascade is the University of Hull's multimedia interactive training arm located in Unit 2 of the Science Park, University of Hull, Inglemire Lane.
The programme of modules will enable non-teaching staff to gain invaluable skills, knowledge and understanding which will significantly enhance their effectiveness in the classroom. The course is focused on the role of ICT in teaching and learning. It will ensure participants can make the most effective use of ICT to support what they do. It consist of modules written and delivered by classroom experts who have considerable experience working with non-teaching staff. The six modules are:-
Module 1 : Basic skills and self-confidence in using Micrsoft Office products
Module 2 : Technical and networking skills for classroom assistants
Module 3 : Understanding how ICT can support learning in the National Liteacy and National Numeracy strategies
Module 4 : Supporting children with special educational needs through ICT
Module 5 : Using ICT to produce classroom resources
Module 6 : New and emerging technologies (including interactive whiteboards)

Places are limited to 12 - allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

Intercative Whiteboard Training
4 full-day sessions delivered by Leo Sietniekas and Mark Pinchbeck at the EAZ Offices, Coleford Centre.

1 FOUNDATION TRAINING
The course is designed for the absolute beginner. Starting from switching the equipment on to creating a very simple flipchart and familiarisation with the basic tools. Available to the those who also require a refreshher on the basic concepts.

2 ADVANCED TRAINING
Completion of the Foundation course is essential before attending this session. The course covers more sophisticated use of the tools and linking sound, images, web pages and video clips into flipcharts. Also suitable as a refresher for those who have attended previously.

3 PRIMARY LITERACY
The course is designed for Advanced users or those who have attended the Advanced session. The focus is on using the Interactive Whiteboard to support the teaching of literacy (including SFA).

4 PRIMARY NUMERACY
The course is designed for Advanced users or those who have attended the Advanced session. The focus is on using the Interactive Whiteboard to support the teaching of numeracy (including SFA).
